2021 Winter Causebox Reveal!
I subscribed to Causebox, a subscription box with a focus on fair-trade, sustainable, and cruelty-free products, thinking I’d receive one or two boxes of goodies and then unsubscribe because I didn’t really want to spend the money. One year later and I’m still subscribed with no regrets, because every new Causebox comes with products I actually use. Right now my skincare routine is filled with Causebox products, some of the favorites in my wardrobe and jewelry rack are Causebox products, the pomegranate seeds in my fridge are covered by a reusable lid from Causebox, and I’m sitting here typing this in my waffle robe...from Causebox.
By the way, this is not a paid post, I’m just a really happy customer. I definitely recommend this subscription box to anyone looking to build a base of ethically-sourced essentials.
Anyway, on to the contents of the 2021 Winter Causebox!
The first item is my absolute favorite, if you can’t tell from my smile in the photo. This Thread & Supply Cozy Cloud Wrap is one of the softest things I have ever touched. It feels like a baby sheep massaging my skin. I may or may not have worn it for a week straight. Incredibly, this extremely soft sweater is made out of recycled plastic water bottles. To note, this sweater came as a ‘one size fits most,’ which I think tends to be the case for Causebox clothing items. I’m a quarterly member, however, and annual members have more customization options, although the website FAQs do not mention the ability for annual members to customize clothing sizes either.
The 2021 Planner by Idlewild Co. is a great example of Causebox predicting my needs, because I was planning to purchase a planner. I just kept forgetting because I didn’t have a planner to plan my purchase. In addition to being incredibly cute, the planner has daily, weekly, and monthly sections, a pocket folder, and best of all, STICKERS! Two pages of stickers. Incredible. Idlewild Co. is an independent women-run boutique for paper goods.
I’ve started using the True Moringa Rejuvenating Body Polish and Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Face Toner and I’m happy with both products. I use the body polish while showering to exfoliate. It’s made with farmer-roasted coffee, organic sugar, moringa and essential oils. The Skin & Co Truffle Therapy Face Toner is a nice one that adds a little brightness to my face in the morning. It’s made with truffle, calendula, rose, rosemary, witch hazel and sage to exfoliate and provide antioxidants to the skin.
One of the best things about Causebox for me is the inclusion of reusable food storage products. A previous Causebox came with a series of stretchable lids in multiple sizes that fit over bowls to keep food fresh, removing the need for plastic or disposable storage containers. The set of five Reusable Zip Pouches from Boon Supply is a great alternative to disposable plastic zip-lock bags. The pouches are made from PEVA, a recyclable and less toxic alternative to PVC (Aaron, 2020). Boon Supply specializes in eco-conscious products, and with each purchase 40% is given back to a cause of your choice.
I loooove this Ettitude Pillowcase - I look for silky fabrics that are easy on the skin and hair, which is exactly what this is. Although it feels like smooth silk, Ettitude pillowcases are primarily made from organic bamboo material, and they’re also hypoallergenic. I’ve been using this pillowcase since my Causebox arrived. It’s super soft and doesn’t leave any lines on my face in the morning when I wake up, which is great - the lines I already have are enough!
All Causeboxes come with a 5” x 7” art print by artist Antra Švarcs, an Australian illustrator who emphasizes themes of optimism, interpersonal connection, and nature. She also designs the beautiful boxes themselves, which I’ve saved to reuse as gift boxes. The prints sweetly double as postcards if that’s how you’d prefer to use them. Check out her website at the link for some colorful and uplifting works.
There you have it! I’ll be sure to check in again with the 2021 Spring Causebox contents.
